The Art of Love of Oneself
Faith, Gratitude, Forgiveness & Grace
Whether it will be through the fluttering of the butterflies in the stomach or the tears of a broken heart, we all have those moments when we ponder over the meaning of love.
There is a power in love, but now more than ever, I am realizing it is an individualized system. A system that is according to your rules, your past traumas, and your dramas. If you had asked me twenty years ago what love is. I would give you the generic definition of loving another person very much. I am learning love requires four ingredients of faith, gratitude, forgiveness, and grace. In order to fully love others, we must love ourselves. We must have a divine connection to our wants, needs, and desires. Love is a splendid thing, and one of my biggest mistakes was requiring others to know how to love me when I didn’t have a clue what I wanted.
This love that I am reflecting on reconnected to the woman I need to be. I am approaching the 50th year of my life in 2024. It didn’t help that I looked at one of my favorite movies: eat, love, and Pray. As I watched, I realized that we all are constantly in the discovery of ourselves. Healing from the situations and life’s upsets. The Art of love is knowing we are not perfect. That each second requires us to be thankful for not only the wins but the losses. To speak to that little girl who faced all the dramas still finds gratitude and grace.
How do I love myself? I am learning to have faith over fear in the biggest and smallest challenges. To show gratitude in every moment of life. To awaken my acts of gratitude for every good thing that happens. To have grace when life’s frustrations attempt to take me down. Love is, as stated, a splendid thing, but now more than ever, I know what I want from others loving me. Good connections with people who genuinely love and honor me. Me being receptive to their acts of kindness, friendships, and genuine care for myself. To also give what I expect to receive. That I attract the beautiful energies of people who have the right heart and mind to love. To feel so comfortable giving the love that there is no doubt in my mind or spirit.
